Presentation to Undergraduate Class Technology Department, School of Applied Sciences, Engineering & Technology January 2010 What makes Project Management worthy of being a specialty? What does it contribute? This 90-minute guest presentation of 40 students in the introductory session of a three-credit Project Management course decribed typical projects, how Project Management works andwhat the essential steps are. It explored the elements of the Key issues of people, commitment, risk, communication and problem solving. It sketched the problems of the English Channel Tunnel project, and how they were caused by a failure to employ Project Management principles and practices. The presentation concluded with information about te Project Management Insitute, its Maine chapter and Project Management as one of the top five in-demand skills. |
